The Little House "Contest Entry"
One of these two kids is my little sister "Idea" and the other one is her friend "Ravy". They are cooperating to build a small house in the garden near the eye. After spending two days, they have almost finished their small house. I took this picture on July 2011.

smell the roses "contest entry"
I am an Iranian student studying at an American university in Iraq. I am member of my university's photography club, a group of Arabs, Kurds, Americans and Iranian. In our club, we go all over the city to learn how to take good pictures. While working together with other members of the club, I got this picture of a student smelling flowers.  This photo was taken by Saber Hayadar in March, 2011.

Nawroz Celebration Fire
I'm a Kurdish student from Halabja. A few month ago I took this photo in my uncle's garden for Nawroz Celebration which is on March 21. Nawroz is a Kurdish traditional celebration of the Kurdish new year. I worked together with my friends and family gathering wood for this fire. Kurdish groups all over northern Iraq do the same thing. This photo is taken by Nuha Othman in March 2011.

Development Now "contest entry"
A group of students from the American University of Iraq- Sulaimani's Development Now Club posing on top of a tank in Sulaimani, Iraqi Kurdistan. The purpose of the Development Club is to observe, analyze participate in issues related to sustainable development in our community. We visit local NGOs, chat with people in the community, organize local trash clean-ups. In this photo we are at Sulaimani's Red Museum, formerly a prison in which thousands of Iraqis were imprisoned and tortured. In 2007, the prison was converted into a museum and cultural exhibition center. The Red Museum kept many of the tanks and weapons as a memorial to the site's dark past. Photo taken by Chris De Bruyn in April, 2011.

I took this photo when my big family and grand families with some relatives and friends went to a picnic near my town for the whole day. These two men are my father's friends. They were very exhausted from hiking the small hills around the area to reach the great waterfall where many people around Iraq come to visit that beautiful scene. It was a very nice day because I got to know many people from different culture.
