Raising awareness about how to stay away from unlawful Internet content is the focus of the Internet Society Tunisian Chapter launched, on Saturday 2 July 2011, an awareness campaign on Safer Internet Use.
The Chapter Chairman Khaled Koubaa announced that the campaign, in which took part the Secretariat of State to Technology, National Information Technology Security Agency (ANSI) and Microsoft company, will be continuing for 7 months until 7 February 2012, the date of the celebration of the World Safer Internet Day.
"While we understand there is unlawful content on the Internet,
censorship is not the best or only solution to keep our users safe," says Mr. Koubaa.
During the lunch meeting, held with the support of Internet Society in Technopole El Gahzala in Tunis, Mr. Koubaa said that, as part of this campaign, gatherings and awareness events in addition to training sessions on safer Internet use are to be organized. These events are mainly meant for children, parents, and teachers, he specified.
