This short film was produced at the end of a 5-day film making workshop at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) media center. This is a tribute to the Egyptian women who, though weren't present in Egypt at the time of the revolution (Feb. 2011), contributed to it in various ways.

Women were at the forefront of the 18 day uprising that toppled the Mubarak regime. Their voices and actions made the January 25th revolution in Egypt possible, in the process challenging negative stereotypes of Arab women as passive, disempowered and oppressed.

In Lebanon, there are no laws specifically designed to protect women from domestic violence. Lebanese activists have begun a campaign to push parliament to approve a new law they say would protect women from violence inside their homes and their efforts are highlighted in this video created for the Common Ground News Service by Cyril Bassil in Lebanon.
لماذا لايتم استخدام بدائل للحد من العنف ضد المرأة .. كالتوعية وابراز دورها الفاعل في المجتمع وغيرها التي قد تساهم في وضع حد لهذة المشكلة بدلا من سن القوانين التى قد لا تجدي نفعاً في ضل غياب الوعي...
