About 1001cgstories.org

The 1001 Stories of Common Ground website is an opportunity to reinvent the famous “One Thousand and One Nights” with 1,001 constructive stories relevant to 21st century issues.

Designed for people who believe that changing the world begins with positive change at the interpersonal level, users are invited to add their story to the many others that exist around the globe. While the site is open to all, it is especially for those in the Arab world, whose stories of positive change are often underrepresented in media. A single story has the ability to change attitudes and behaviour, dispelling the myth that the world is black and white or that stereotypes define people or actions. If one story has such power, imagine the potential of hundreds!

By registering using your facebook login or creating a free account, you can immediately begin sharing your stories of positive social change by posting videos, pictures, articles and comments.

Whether you are part of a group that has come together to solve a problem in your community, are building dialogue between cultures and religions, using social media to change policies in your country or connecting youth through pop culture, your story deserves to be heard.

1001 Stories of Common Ground is an initiative of Search for Common Ground, an international nongovernmental organization that works to transform the way the world deals with conflict - away from adversarial approaches and towards cooperative problem solving. This network was created as part of Search for Common Ground’s initiative to promote greater Muslim-Western understanding.
